Whenever I feel I’m not doing something the way I’d like to be doing it, I remind myself that most people are not born with a natural know-how. Of course, there are some truly talented people, but while talent itself is a gift, it cannot grow to reach its full potential unless you are actually doing something in that direction. Obviously, it can be a great step forward and it’s a huge advantage that somebody with a natural talent for an activity has over me, the “average Joe”.
But nevertheless. The majority of people are just “normal”. If they are proficient in a certain field, then it’s because they pursue their ideal, goal, ambition, call it whatever you like to, and they mean it.
The problem, the real problem, is to find the strength inside of you to draw this goal in your mind and use all available resources to achieve it. What I mean is: everybody has to start somewhere.
I once heard or read something that illustrates this concept a lot better than my long blabbering. The quote might be an approximate one, but the essence is the same:
Even a 1,000 kilometers long journey starts with… a single footstep.
Indeed! As a typical Aries (yes, this is my sign), I find that one of the most difficult things is to actually start something. I’m not going to be a hypocrite and say that afterwards everything “comes by itself”, but I’ve always found “the starting point” very difficult in everything I did.
